As Winchester Gardens approaches its 100th anniversary, the community is honoring its past while investing in its future through the 1927 Legacy Fund. A newly reimagined entryway marks an early milestone— welcoming residents and visitors alike while reflecting the community’s ongoing journey toward its centennial.
Winchester Gardens, a Springpoint Life Plan Community, unveiled the enhanced entryway during a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 22. The event brought together residents, leadership, local officials, and supporters to celebrate the transformation and its role within the broader Centennial Campaign. Supported by the Springpoint Foundation, the campaign funds initiatives that preserve and strengthen the community for generations to come.
A Community Comes Together to Celebrate
The ceremony featured remarks from community and organizational leaders, including Springpoint President & CEO Anthony Argondizza, Executive Director Sue Lippy, resident Tilly-Jo Emerson, and Maplewood Mayor Victor DeLuca, highlighting the significance of the project.
“Today is about more than a beautiful new entryway—it’s about honoring a century of community while building toward the future,” said Mr. Argondizza. “As we approach this milestone, we’re proud to invest in spaces that enhance the resident experience, strengthen connections, and ensure Winchester Gardens remains a vibrant and welcoming place for generations to come.”
A Legacy in Motion
The revitalized entryway serves as a welcoming gateway to the campus and reflects the community’s commitment to both its history and continued evolution. Enhancements include a stacked stone wall with new signage, improved lighting, and thoughtfully designed outdoor features such as winding paths, seating areas, and new plantings. The surrounding green space is also being thoughtfully redesigned with inspiration from original Olmsted landscape plans, reinforcing the community’s architectural and environmental heritage.
Through the 1927 Legacy Fund, the Centennial Campaign will continue to support the preservation and enhancement of Winchester Gardens’ historic grounds, gardens, and shared spaces, while also advancing initiatives that support a vibrant and thriving community.
Residents attending the celebration expressed excitement about the transformation and what it represents for the future of the community.
“This day is really about preserving what makes Winchester Gardens so special—the sense of warmth, connection, and community that has been here for generations,” said Ms. Emerson. “It’s about carrying that legacy forward and ensuring it continues for the next century.”
Following the ribbon cutting, guests gathered in the community’s Great Hall for a reception, continuing the celebration of Winchester Gardens’ legacy and its path toward a second century.
