Join Winchester Gardens for Active Aging Week 2018
September 21, 2018Join Winchester Gardens for Active Aging Week 2018
Staying active is crucial for healthy aging – this is a fact you probably know well. Held each year during the last week of September, Active Aging Week helps spread the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) message that adults ages 50 and older are fully participating members of society, while promoting the benefits of leading an active, healthier lifestyle.
Over the past 14 years, millions of people have come together during Active Aging Week to embrace their potential and to help shift negative perceptions of aging in their local communities.
This year marks another opportunity for Winchester Garden to encourage and inspire wellness in its residents and their loved ones. After all, the 2018 theme is ‘Inspiring Wellness’. Winchester Gardens is proud to be one of more than 3,000 organizations worldwide to participate in the annual campaign. Other organizations include active adult/community centers, retirement, assisted living, and long-term care communities, medical practices and wellness centers, libraries, universities, and government departments or senior services agencies.
Want to Get Involved?
Active Aging Week kicks off in September, but the message should last year-round. In fact, Winchester Gardens strives to inspire wellness every day, no matter the level of involvement. Dimensions of wellness aren’t just physical – they are intellectual, emotional, social, environmental, spiritual and vocational.
Our residents have a number of options to participate in Active Aging Week this year. Remember that participation is completely optional, and each resident can participate as much or as little as they’d like. The goal is to offer a little something for everyone, no matter their health status, age, or interests.
Here are some examples of how you can get involved in Active Aging Week:
