1. What is a continuing care retirement community?

A continuing care retirement community (CCRC), or Life Plan Community, offers various levels of senior housing options and care services designed to meet residents’ specific needs. Winchester Gardens is a nonprofit, full service premier continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in New Jersey, providing a campus setting for active and vibrant seniors 62 and greater.

2. Where is Winchester Gardens located?

Winchester Gardens is located in quaint Maplewood, New Jersey on Elmwood Avenue, approximately 1/4 mile from Prospect Street. Our campus is close to a variety of engaging activities and attractions like the Papermill Playhouse, fine dining and great shopping options.

3. When I move to Winchester Gardens, do I own my independent living residence?

Like all continuing care retirement communities, at Winchester, you enter into a service agreement. This agreement gives you use of your home on the Winchester Gardens campus, as well as access to our array of services, amenities and programs. It is not a real estate transaction, so you do not own your residence.

4. I am still very active. Are there activities at Winchester Gardens?

Not only can you continue to enjoy your current interests, you will have a myriad of new cultural, educational and recreational opportunities to explore. Discover the inner artist in you with a watercolor painting class, challenge your mind with the bridge group, splash around with friends in a water aerobics class and socialize at the complimentary happy hour every week.

5. Does Winchester Gardens offer dining choices?

You'll enjoy delicious, nutritious meals in our beautiful dining room created by a professional chef every day at Winchester Gardens. Plus, you can visit the Action Stations for an enticing salad or delectable dessert.

6. Do you allow wine with dinner?

Aside from our complimentary Happy Hour every week, you may bring wine or beer to dinner.

7. Can guests stay in my home at Winchester Gardens?

Friends and family are welcome to visit with you! Need more room? We offer a guest apartments for a small fee. All visitors are registered for the safety of all residents and guests.

8. May I bring my pet with me?

Pets are part of our families, and they are welcome in your home at Winchester Gardens.

9. What does “movement through the continuum of care” mean?

If your health needs change, additional services are available right on campus. You can access companion services in your home, or move to the on-site health center. No need to move from the Winchester Gardens campus to access assistance, whether it is temporary or permanent. This is just another reason why Winchester Gardens is a desirable continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in New Jersey.

10. What happens if I run out of money – how do I pay for the cost of senior living at Winchester Gardens?

We have a financial qualifying process that is conservative in nature and is based on your age at entry, your assets and your income. If, through no fault of your own, you cannot make your full monthly payment The Springpoint Senior Living Foundation offers a Resident Financial Assistance program to provide financial assistance on your behalf. Springpoint has never asked a resident to leave due to inability to pay.
